What does air conditioning cost in Luxembourg?

A single-split system installed usually costs €2,000 to €3,500. For three rooms on a multi-split, expect €6,000 to €11,000.

Price drivers are pipe routing, outdoor unit placement and wall penetrations. Thick walls in older buildings add significant labour.

Always check the outdoor unit's noise level: it causes more neighbour disputes than cooling capacity.

Do I need a permit?

A municipal permit may be required for the outdoor unit, especially when visible on a façade or roof or in a protected area.

In apartment blocks, the owners' association must also agree. Settle both before ordering.

Ask whether the company handles the paperwork and whether it is priced in the quote.

Air conditioning or heat pump?

A reversible air-to-water heat pump heats in winter and cools in summer. It costs more than a split system but can be subsidised: €10,000 when replacing fossil heating, up to €12,000 with the increase for an order placed between 1 January 2026 and 30 June 2027.

If your boiler is near end of life, price both options. Air conditioning alone does not solve a heating problem.
